A Celebration of new Hope

So... I haven't blogged in a couple of days and this seems like the perfect post to freshen things up. It is also appropriate because of the uncertainty and sadness that has been gripping the world, especially regarding Japan. My thoughts are with all the people in Japan or abroad who lost loved ones or were badly affected by the earthquake and tsunami. For you I wish for love, care, empathy and, mostly, Hope.

This is a poem that I wrote in 2007:

A Celebration of new Hope

The beat of the drum sticks
echoes so that the whole world seems to
sway so lightly to their distant thunder.
And a lady stares out of the window:
all knowledge and wisdom and a slight power
which, shining gently on the world,
urges new growth.
       Plants sprouting,
       Flowers budding...
And mankind displays a thread of peace.
Not a thick thread,
but a glimmer that, if allowed to shine,
shines brighter than 1000 lights together.
We can all smile as that lady crosses the threshold
and begins her daily work,
and we can appreciate the subtle words she always spoke,
for that lady is none other than Hope.

  3. 'Hope' did many wonders to me and my family and it never ceases to do more wonders to us. When we had nothing to eat, we hoped we could have good dreams.

  4. Nothing profound, that's very true. It's something very important to hold on to.
